Gonzaga University
Gonzaga University is located in Spokane, Washington and is a private Catholic university. It was founded in 1887 by the Society of Jesus and is named after the saint of youth. It was originally founded as a way to teach the local Native Americans in the way of the Catholic Church.
Gonzaga has an undergraduate enrollment of 4,152 which is mostly of the catholic faith. The students are not taught by teacher's assistants and graduate students but by professors who have earned their doctorate in their field of study. Class sizes are kept to a minimum as 51% of classes offered have fewer than 20 students enrolled. Another 47% of classes have no more than 49 students.
Gonzaga University has an over ranking of 84 by the US News and World Report. The majority of students come from the Western United States and close to 50% enrolled are from out of state. There are also many opportunities to study abroad as Gonzaga has a campus in Florence, Italy as well as opportunities in Europe and Asia. The university also boasts an Army ROTC program that ranks in the top 5 annually.
The University has strong roots in the field of liberal arts as can be seen with its curriculum full of those in the Arts & Sciences department. However, close to 25% of the students are enrolled in business courses including the fields of marketing and management. Gonzaga also offers pre-professional programs such as pre-law, pre-med, and pre-dentistry.
One of the major marketing campaigns for Gonzaga isn't a marketing campaign at all but is rather it's very successful basketball program. Gonzaga University's basketball team has had more wins than another program since 2000 except for Duke. Each year they make the tournament and provoke a positive image for the university.
